Skills Over Stories
A practical, action-focused group for people who want to stop repeating the same relational patterns and start building new ones. Less talk, more doing.
This is a working group—not just a talking circle.
If you’ve been through therapy (or spent plenty of time reflecting) and still feel stuck in the same patterns, this space is designed for you.
We don’t just process—we practice.
Here, you’ll build new skills, experiment with fresh perspectives, and move beyond old stories that keep you stuck.
Rewrite the narrative, not just retell it.
Welcome to a New Kind of Group Experience
Are You Ready to Take Your Growth to the Next Level?
Skills Over Stories is a weekly growth group for individuals who are ready to change how they show up in relationships. Whether you're trying to break patterns in your romantic life, with family, or at work—this group is where you come to practice, not just talk about it.
While grounded in the time-tested interpersonal work of Irvin Yalom, this group intentionally moves away from traditional therapy models. It’s built for people who want something different—something that doesn’t keep them stuck in old stories. This is a working space where you'll be supported, challenged, and encouraged to try on new relational behaviors in real time. Less talk, more doing.
What is this group?
Skills Over Stories is a practical, interactive group where real change happens through experience. It’s not therapy. It’s not coaching. It’s a place to challenge your patterns, build new habits, and get better at how you show up—with feedback, connection, and accountability.
Participants engage with each other in structured conversations that invite insight and action. You’ll get to see your patterns in real time—and try something different while it’s still happening.
Who is it for?
This group is for adults who are:
-
Tired of repeating the same patterns in relationships
-
Looking to build healthier ways of relating
-
Ready to practice—not just process
-
Comfortable receiving and giving respectful feedback
-
Open to learning in an interactive, group-based setting
You don’t need to have it all figured out—you just need to be willing to show up and try.

What makes this group different?
Unlike traditional talk-based groups, Skills Over Stories is built around action. You’ll practice tools and habits that help you:
-
Communicate clearly and effectively
-
Set and hold boundaries
-
Navigate difficult conversations
-
Repair after disconnection
-
Shift reactive responses into conscious choices
This group isn’t about rehashing the past. It’s about showing up differently in the present—and building the skills to keep doing it.

Meet Your Facilitator.
Hi, I’m Susan Regan. I’m a relationship expert and certified coach with more than twenty-five years of experience helping people grow, connect, and thrive.
While my background includes decades as a licensed marriage and family therapist, my passion today is creating spaces where people can actively change how they relate—instead of just talking about what’s not working. I built this group for people who are skeptical of traditional therapy, but still want meaningful growth, better relationships, and a deeper sense of personal integrity.
This work is about more than insight—it’s about shifting your default patterns, showing up more honestly, and practicing new ways of being in real time. That’s the space I hold, and I’d be honored to do that work with you.
A Group Guided by the Vision of Irvin Yalom
Inspired by the principles of Yalom, this group is about embracing vulnerability, engaging deeply with the present moment, and fostering mutual support for meaningful growth. Group therapy has the potential to create life-changing insights and connections that traditional therapy often cannot achieve alone.
Key Principles of the Group (Inspired by Irvin Yalom)
- Universality: Discovering that we’re not alone in our struggles creates an incredible sense of relief and connection.
- Interpersonal Learning: Through observing and interacting with others, members gain insight into their own relational patterns.
- Instillation of Hope: Witnessing others’ progress builds hope and inspires members to believe in their own capacity for change.
- Emotional Catharsis: Sharing openly in a supportive space can lead to emotional release, strengthening bonds and aiding healing.
- Socializing Skills: The group is a place to practice new ways of relating, receiving feedback, and building confidence.
- Existential Reflection: By confronting life’s fundamental questions, members can develop a stronger sense of purpose and self-understanding.
- Altruism: Supporting and uplifting each other brings a profound sense of fulfillment and reinforces the healing process.
- Self-Reflection and Insight: Regular reflection encourages members to gain greater awareness of their motivations and behaviors.
- Group Cohesiveness: A strong sense of belonging promotes trust, vulnerability, and genuine connections.
- Here-and-Now Focus: This approach encourages members to engage fully in the present, fostering real-time insight and growth.
